Culverts Program

The Culvert program provides funding for rehabilitating and replacing culverts which fall into one of four focused areas:

  1. Large (6 ft to 20 ft span) Culverts on any highway;
  2. Culverts of any size located on ODOT Priority Routes;
  3. High Priority Fish Passage Barriers (as defined by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife); and
  4. Major Culvert Maintenance Program which is used deliver small culvert repair projects on all routes.  Currently there is limited funding available to replace small culverts on non-Priority Routes.

Potential projects are identified by the Culvert Program Managers in Salem based on conditions and other environmental and agency priorities.  The Statewide Culvert Leadership Team members provide significant input in the development of the final 150% and 100% project lists.

The projects in the Region 1 STIP Book were added to the 2015-2018 STIP (current) which was approved by the Oregon Transportation Commission in December 2014 and approved by the US Department of Transportation in May 2015.
Since the adoption of the 2015-2018 STIP projects may have changed, been added, or removed. The official approved ‘2015-2018 Final STIP’ and ‘2015-2018 Final STIP as Amended’ are available on ODOT’s Statewide STIP website.
